I created a job plan with 6 tasks numbered 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60.  When I create a work order using the job plan, a child work order is created for each task!  I do not want the child work orders.  Why does Maximo create a child work order for each task of a job plan. Undecided Huh

This is really great question you have asked. Last time I had created the same job order but I could not find the solution over this. Anyone has solution over this?

A work order with a job plan will create only task work orders for each job plan task as per the current settings in Maximo.

Child work orders would be created only when you apply a route to a work order, MAXIMO generates a parent work order and child work orders for all the route steps required to complete the work order. Also when you generate work orders for a PM, MAXIMO creates a parent work order for the asset or GL account on the PM, and creates child work orders for each asset on the route.

I remember this problem. In MXES there was a button which basically said ("show tasks").  When this was unchecked the task steps for the Work Order went away and all that was shown on the Work Order screen was the real Work Orders and not the individual tasks.  Each task has a Work Order number that can not be used again - but so what!

The last version I used was MXES.  I am not an IT guy but one that was involved with the maintenance and inventory side.  I planned, scheduled and wrote work plans for unscheduled, preventitve and outage maintenance.  I developed (and sometimes) physically entered Location and Asset hierarchies.  I am thinking of coming back into the field again but would like to know how far I have gotten behind in the upgrades.  I retired in 2010.  I would have liked to pose this as a new post but can not figure out how to do it on this website.

If you have a chance, please let me know how to post new questions.
