I've noticed in reporting that our job tasks are generating their own work order numbers? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks

Job tasks itself are work orders of type task. you cannot prevent it.
When you associate job task to some work order, every task in the job plan itself becomes a seperate work order of type task.

Can you explain why you want to stop it.

We were encouraged by IBM to not use job tasks for every step in the job because of the creation of so many task work orders and how it can bog down our system. They suggested putting all the job steps in the long description of one task step. Seems odd to me.

Our maintenance crews like to see the tasks listed individually - almost like a checklist of tasks to do while performing a PM work order. I just wish that a work order number wasn't created by each task and was hoping that there was a way to prevent this from occurring.

another way to keep the database small is the deletion of work orders after a certain period of time.. say after two years..
