I have just inherited Maximo 6.5.01 with sql and I would like to know how to change a GL Account once a project has been closed. The improper GL account was entered and now it needs to be corrected. I don't believe that you can change a GL account on a closed workorder. I can access the database via linked tables in access, but I'm not usre which tables contain GL account information so I can make the proper changes. Is there a way to do this on the front end? I've tried changing the status of the WO to APPR (Approved) and I still can't change the GL account.

it is not recomended to change data from the DB-side, it is quite easy to forget to change all the places...
if you need a help on the tablename/fieldname of a data you can see on maximo application, simply press ALT+F1 on the field and a popup tells you the value.

returning to your question, the gl account of the workorder is the field GLACCOUNT in the table WORKORDER...
keep in mind that the value is also stored in the WOSTATUS table on each status changes.
You have also to check the gl acccount of the labor/material/tools transactions.

at last, if you change the status (via DB) of a closed workorder, usually you have to change the HISTORYFLAG to 0 or the record will not be editable.

I agree that it's not a good practice to change data on the backend of the database, but how can you change the GL account any other way? It continues to tell me that the field is read only.

you can set editibility of GLACCOUNT, LOCATION, ASSET and other similar data in the organizations app (select action WO options)
(sorry if I'm not specific, but my installation is in Italian and so I don't know the English name of this option)
