Hello!
I'm the Project Manager for a project that is currently building a highly customized IBM Maximo solution. What are the risks for that approach, specially regarding to application maintenance and Maximo support? Is there any study comparing a highly customized approach versus a more configuration oriented approach? We are in an evaluation check point when this information can be very valuable on the decision on going back and changing the design approach.

Thanks,

its hard to say.
it again depends what kind of customozation you are trying to do.
screen customization, login customization, integration customization or reporting.

anyhow if the same functionality can be acheived using configuration its always suggested to go for configuration. However some functionality cannot be acheived with configuration and we have to do customization.

The only thing you can do is by evaluating the customization option and configuration option for each business objective you want to acheive.
